Your new companyHays are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established public sector organisation for a Finance Manager (Lottery Accounts) opportunity on an initial 6-month contract with the option to extend to 12 months. There will be permanent competitions within this timeframe as the finance team is doubling in size.This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional to join a highly regarded organisation, providing leadership across the finance function and supporting strategic decision-making through the delivery of high-quality financial information and robust financial governance.Your new roleReporting to the Head of Finance, you will lead the finance team and provide a comprehensive finance service across the organisation. You will be responsible for delivering accurate financial information, supporting budget holders, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring compliance with public sector financial reporting requirements.Key responsibilities will include:Preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts to the senior leadership team.Budget setting, monitoring and financial performance reporting.Production of financial and statistical returns and completion of financial exercises for external stakeholders.Cashflow management and financial analysis.Continuous improvement of financial systems, controls and processes.Production and review of monthly and year-end financial accounts, including Lottery funding accounts.Liaison with internal and external auditors and preparation of supporting audit documentation.Leadership, development and performance management of the finance team.Preparation of reports, briefing papers and responses to information requests.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered, you must be a fully qualified accountant and a current member of a recognised professional accounting body such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or CPA Ireland.You will also possess:At least 3 years' post-qualification experience gained within the last 5 years in a finance-related environment.Experience across at least two of the following areas:Financial planning and budgetingFinancial accounting and auditingManagement accounting and cost analysisDevelopment and implementation of financial systemsA minimum of 2 years' experience using computerised accounting software packages.Experience implementing financial procedures and preparing financial and statistical reports for senior management.Demonstrable leadership and staff management experience, including performance management and development of team members.What you'll get in returnFinance Manager (Lottery Accounts)6-month contract with the option to extendGrade: Deputy Principal (DP)Starting salary of £47,304NILGOSC Local Government Pension Scheme from Day 1Employee contribution: 6.5%Employer contribution: 15.5%Flexible working arrangementsOffice hours: 8:30am to 5:30pmCore hours: 10:00am to 12:00pm and 2:00pm to 4:00pmHybrid working with a minimum of 2 office days per week28.5 days annual leave12.5 customary holidaysEmployee Assistance ProgrammeCycle to Work SchemeLearning & Development budget for trainingOpportunity to join a collaborative finance team and make a meaningful contribution within a large public sector environmentWhat you need to do nowIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
