Job Title: Litigation Legal Assistant Location: Portland, Oregon Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote after training); 37.5-hour work week Pay Rate: $36-43/hr. Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire Job Description: LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established national law firm seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support attorneys handling a mix of commercial litigation, medical malpractice, and professional liability matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized, proactive legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and enjoys supporting attorneys through all phases of the litigation process. The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable:
- Provide administrative and litigation support to a team of attorneys
- Draft, revise, proofread, and format pleadings, correspondence, discovery, and other legal documents
- Prepare and electronically file documents in Oregon state and federal courts
- Manage attorney calendars, including hearings, depositions, mediations, deadlines, and client meetings
- Maintain electronic case files and document management systems
- Coordinate new matter openings and closings, including file organization and related administrative tasks
- Enter attorney time, prepare expense reports, and assist with billing and reimbursement requests
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and vendors
- Assist with additional administrative projects and operational support as needed
- 3+ years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant or Legal Administrative Assistant
- Experience supporting civil litigation matters; insurance defense experience is preferred
- Proficiency with Oregon state and federal e-filing procedures
- Strong calendar management, document organization, and case management skills
- Experience with document management systems (iManage preferred)
- Experience with expense management software (Chrome River preferred)
- Familiarity with new matter intake, file openings and closings, and conflicts procedures is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Highly organized, proactive, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
