We are excited to announce an opening for a Board Eligible/Board Certified General Gastroenterologist to join our team at a medical facility in Athens, Texas. This location is situated near the picturesque Lake Athens, a 1,799-acre reservoir that offers a wealth of outdoor recreational activities for those looking to unwind outside of their medical practice.

Our organization boasts state-of-the-art facilities and hospital programs that promote collaborative, multidisciplinary care. We utilize advanced technologies, including EPIC/EMR systems and the DaVinci surgical robot. As we undergo significant growth and expansion, a new 60,000 sq. ft. medical office building is set to open in 2027, enhancing our capabilities further.

• Position Type: Full-time employment
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM (Clinic and Procedure days)

About Our Organization

Our healthcare system encompasses nine hospitals, over 90 physician clinics, and more than 500 employed providers. We also operate 13 regional rehabilitation facilities, two freestanding emergency centers, six urgent care clinics, and a comprehensive home health service covering 41 counties. Our trauma care network includes a Level 1 trauma center.

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine, the first medical school in East Texas, is dedicated to training healthcare professionals who are responsive to the unique needs of rural and underserved communities. Our Graduate Medical Education program offers 20 residency and fellowship training programs, allowing graduates to specialize in various fields, including family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, psychiatry, surgery, and anesthesia.

Currently, we are constructing a five-story, 248,000-square-foot Medical Education Building in Tyler’s Midtown District, which will be connected to UT Health Tyler via a skybridge. This facility is designed to support interdisciplinary education and is expected to be completed by fall 2025.
