Job Description
Step into a dynamic, contract-based opportunity working full time as a Reading Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year. Based onsite near Philadelphia, this role focuses on delivering specialized literacy support with a targeted caseload at Stetser Elementary School. You'll work 37.5 hours per week from August 24, 2026, to June 10, 2027, collaborating closely with teachers and staff to elevate students’ reading abilities and overall achievement.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Valid PA certification/licensure and Reading Specialist certification (required)
- Prior school-based experience in a similar reading specialist capacity
- Solid grasp of subject matter, curriculum alignment, and instructional differentiation
- Familiarity with current state and district educational standards
- Proven ability to proactively create and implement lesson plans driven by formative assessment
- Demonstrated classroom leadership and strong behavioral management capabilities
- Experience working in an urban educational environment
- Ability to complete all necessary PA state clearances
- Reliable means of transportation
- Comfort and adaptability with district protocols and school environment
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and deliver impactful reading instruction to identified students
- Assess literacy levels using formal and informal tools, adjusting instruction accordingly
- Partner with classroom teachers and support staff for integrated literacy support
- Employ a range of research-based strategies to support diverse learners
- Document progress, maintain student records, and contribute to team meetings
- Uphold high standards for student engagement, discipline, and achievement
