Occupational Therapist School Setting in Tacoma, WA
Job Description
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students from Pre-K through 12th grade with your expertise in school-based occupational therapy. This contract assignment, located near Tacoma, WA, runs from early September 2026 through mid-June 2027 and offers full-time hours, typically structured around a 37.5-hour workweek, with schedules beginning at 8:00 AM and finishing by 3:30 PM. Please note that start and end times may vary to accommodate school assignments and meetings.
You’ll manage a caseload with up to 950 direct service minutes each week, delivering individualized and group therapies to help students achieve their fullest academic and functional potential. Collaboration, adaptability, and a passion for student progress are at the heart of this school-based position.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Washington state OT licensure (or eligibility and willingness to obtain)
- Recent experience in a school setting or with pediatric populations
- Knowledge of IEP processes and documentation
- Excellent communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Background in designing and implementing effective therapy interventions for diverse student needs
Responsibilities:
- Conduct evaluations and develop treatment plans aligned with educational goals
- Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy sessions to Pre-K through 12th-grade students
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
- Maintain timely and accurate records of student progress and services delivered
- Adapt strategies and tools to accommodate daily schedule changes and unique student needs
