Recognized as the first Parkinson's Foundation Center of Excellence in South Carolina, we provide the only all-encompassing movement disorders program in the state, featuring an interdisciplinary care approach, opportunities for patients to engage in clinical trials, and various support and educational initiatives.
About the Neurology Movement Disorder Role in Charleston:A collaborative and intellectually engaging team consisting of 7 faculty members, 2 advanced practice providers, research coordinators, nursing personnel, and extensive administrative support.
Utilization of advanced diagnostics, multidisciplinary planning, and a comprehensive range of medical and innovative therapies.
The division is actively involved in research and collaborates closely with the neurosciences program, the College of Health Professionals for Movement Rehabilitation, and the Center for Bio Imaging.
Our division has received multiple national accolades, including designations as a Parkinson's Foundation Center of Excellence, Huntington's Disease Society of America Center of Excellence, and CurePSP Center of Care.
A strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and teamwork.
Proficiency in specific areas of Movement Disorders, including Parkinson's Disease, Huntington's Disease, Dystonia, and particularly Deep Brain Stimulation.
Board certification in Neurology and completion of a fellowship in movement disorders.
An academic mindset, enthusiasm for teaching, and a passion for outreach and research.
This role is primarily focused on outpatient care.
Strong interdisciplinary specialty support is available.
Engagement in teaching medical students, neurology residents, and fellows.
Opportunity to be involved in the movement disorders clinical research program, with numerous collaboration possibilities across the university and mentorship from senior investigators and principal investigators.
Protected research time may be available based on the candidate's qualifications and background.
Minimal on-call duties, requiring only 1-2 nights per month.
Special interests are fully supported.
Faculty appointment with an academic rank and salary aligned with qualifications.
