Job Description
An immediate need exists for an experienced inpatient pharmacist to support a healthcare facility undergoing significant management changes. This role demands a highly skilled pharmacy professional capable of working in a dynamic and challenging environment, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for hospitalized patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately verify and process medication orders, including complex drug regimens.
- Manage IV medication preparation and administration, with an emphasis on controlled analgesics and antibiotics.
- Monitor and identify drug interactions to optimize patient safety.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide expert advice on pharmacokinetics, renal dosing, and anticoagulant management.
- Utilize EPIC electronic medical records for accurate charting and documentation.
- Support chemotherapy medication preparation and monitoring (preferred).
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Virginia pharmacist license required at the time of application (no exceptions).
- Minimum of one year inpatient pharmacy experience is mandatory; prior travel pharmacy assignments are highly desirable.
- Proven expertise in IV medications, pain control, antibiotics, drug interaction assessments, order entry, and medication verification.
- Familiarity with chemotherapy protocols, pharmacokinetic dosing, anticoagulants, and renal dosing is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in EPIC EMR charting is a firm requirement.
Schedule and Duration:
- Contract position lasting 13 weeks, starting Monday, August 24.
- Multiple shift options available:
- Day shifts: 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, or 10:00 AM–6:30 PM
- Evening shifts: 1:00 PM–9:30 PM or 2:30 PM–11:00 PM
- Overnight shifts: 7:30 PM–7:30 AM or 8:30 PM–7:30 AM
