Perfect for adaptable educators within a 35-minute commute, this Itinerant Substitute role offers the chance to make a difference across a variety of classroom settings.

You’ll provide classroom coverage, support for leaves, and long-term assignments in diverse, specialized learning environments. Each day will bring rewarding challenges as you work with students with complex academic, behavioral, communication, and developmental needs, tailored to your background and skillset.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Active Pennsylvania Special Education certification (preferred or required, depending on assignment)
  • Demonstrated experience teaching in special education classroom settings
  • Strong skills in implementing IEPs and delivering targeted, differentiated instruction
  • Excellent classroom management and behavioral support abilities
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, related service teams, and families
  • Willingness to travel between multiple sites as assigned

Preferred Experience Includes:

  • Autism support, ABA strategies, and knowledge of BIPs
  • Emotional support, de-escalation, crisis prevention, and trauma-informed care
  • Experience with adapted curriculum and life skills development for students with multiple disabilities
  • Prior work in IU or highly specialized education programs

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality specialized instruction across multiple programs/classrooms as needed
  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, and developmental progress
  • Maintain strong communication with team members and families
  • Adapt and thrive in a variety of structured and dynamic classroom environments

Assignments align with the academic calendar (August 10, 2026 – June 11, 2027) on a school-day schedule, 35 hours per week.
