Work Environment and Patient Population

Our facilities function as Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) that offer:

• Long-term care for residents needing ongoing skilled support and compassionate daily assistance
• Short-term, sub-acute rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury
• Collaborative care through an interdisciplinary team approach involving nursing, therapy, and medical staff
• A diverse patient population with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-acute needs

The patient mix may vary slightly by facility. As a therapy professional, you will play a crucial role in helping patients achieve functional progress and enhance their quality of life in a supportive, patient-centered environment.

Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist will deliver direct rehabilitation care in occupational therapy to patients referred by physicians, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must be NBCOT certified upon hire; renewal is optional thereafter
• Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program (BSOT or MSOT)
• Currently registered or licensed in the applicable state, maintaining an active license in good standing throughout employment
• Preferred: One year of experience in a post-acute care or related setting
• CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during orientation; must remain current throughout employment

Specific Job Responsibilities

• Engage in community health initiatives and projects as appropriate
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication
• Collaborate with patients, families, and support departments to effectively plan for patient needs
• Exhibit proper body mechanics at all times
• Make independent decisions when necessary
• Understand and comply with practices, procedures, laws, and regulations governing post-acute care facilities
• Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
• Demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and others
• Safeguard the confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information
• Adhere to company policies, including those related to harassment and compliance
• Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following the organization's Code of Conduct and completing required compliance training

Essential Functions

• Follow occupational treatment plans for patients, focusing on activities of daily living
• Establish, assess, and adjust realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals
• Oversee and evaluate care provided by Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs), Rehabilitation Aides, and students
• Document care appropriately and in a timely manner
• Utilize therapy software accurately and effectively
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude towards patients
• Assist in the safe evacuation of patients when necessary
• Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance
• Utilize reasoning skills and good judgment in all situations
• Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
• Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during working hours
• Read, write, speak, and understand the English language proficiently
