Position Overview:

Our organization is proud to introduce a state-of-the-art facility, established in 2014, featuring a Medical-Surgical Department with 13 beds, complemented by a 3-bed ICU. We maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 4:1 during the day and 5:1 at night, with Certified Nursing Assistants available on all shifts. To ensure the safety of our patients and staff, we provide 24/7 security. Nurses typically work 12-hour shifts and are scheduled every third weekend. The intimate setting of our facility allows for meaningful connections with patients, fostering strong relationships.

Many nurses find the Medical-Surgical Department to be an excellent starting point for their careers, often falling in love with the environment and choosing to stay long-term.

Job Summary:

This role involves delivering direct nursing care in alignment with the established policies, procedures, and protocols of our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply medical-surgical nursing standards to enhance the quality of care and life for patients, families, and significant others by systematically assessing the effectiveness of nursing practices.
• Build effective relationships and advocate for patients and their families to create personalized care plans that address unique needs.
• Utilize the nursing process to formulate and execute care plans, gather assessment data, establish nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, implement interventions, and evaluate results.
• Develop assessment and management strategies considering the physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and leisure aspects of health responses.
• Demonstrate understanding of how actual or potential illnesses affect each patient's overall status.
• Employ leadership skills to coordinate with patients, families, communities, and interdisciplinary team members in assessing needs, setting goals, planning interventions, providing care, and evaluating outcomes.
• Engage in effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure culturally sensitive, ethical, and compassionate care within available resources.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion, maintenance, and comfort measures.
• Promote a healthy work environment by mentoring and serving as a role model for nursing colleagues and students.
• Incorporate evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge into medical-surgical nursing to meet age-specific and clinical needs as outlined in the department's Scope of Service.
• Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety.
• May conduct point-of-care testing in accordance with established policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.

Experience:

• No prior experience necessary.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly use speech for oral communication.
• Frequent standing and walking.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Regular sitting, reaching, and data entry.
• Frequent visual acuity for near and far distances, including color differentiation.
• Regularly use smell to identify odors.
• Frequent hearing to receive oral communication and detect alarms or machinery issues.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional patient lifting/moving.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements.
• Occasional driving.
• Rarely crawling or running.
