Physical Therapist - School Setting in Bristol, CT
Job Description
Make a lasting difference for students ages 6–21 by utilizing your expertise in school-based physical therapy within a dynamic, behavioral-focused setting. This rewarding contract role spans two school sites, offering the chance to influence young lives from elementary through their transition into adulthood. The caseload includes students with autism, seizure and metabolic disorders, genetic syndromes like Fragile X, and those with dual diagnoses. Many students are also working toward vocational readiness, providing a diverse and fulfilling professional experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments and design individualized physical therapy interventions aligned with IEP goals.
- Deliver direct therapy and consultative services across academic and vocational spaces.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including educators, OTs, SLPs, and vocational staff to maximize student outcomes.
- Promote safe mobility, independence, and functional skills in various school environments.
- Maintain accurate, detailed documentation in accordance with school and state standards.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active (or eligible) Connecticut Physical Therapy license.
- Prior experience in schools or pediatric environments is preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
- Dedication to student-centered, inclusive, and evidence-based practices.
Schedule & Details:
- Full-time (Monday–Friday, up to 40 hours per week), but part-time candidates will be considered.
- Contract runs from ASAP through June 12, 2026.
