Job Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for assessing and evaluating patients to create tailored treatment plans that align with their specific conditions. This role involves tracking patient progress, adjusting treatment strategies as needed, and providing education to patients to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients across all age groups.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans based on individual patient needs.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, making necessary modifications to treatment approaches.
  • Educate patients and their families about treatment processes and goals.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders.
  • Licensure: Current Florida license as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association, and Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA required upon hiring or transferring into the role.
  • Experience: Less than one year of clinical experience in relevant settings such as acute care, outpatient, or skilled nursing facilities. Fellowship experience is applicable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of Speech Language Pathology theories, procedures, and equipment.
    • Excellent communication abilities with a proactive and positive approach to problem-solving.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of potential hazards, necessary precautions, and remedial actions in patient care.
    • Capability to assess and implement treatment programs for both simple and complex therapy diagnoses.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Video Swallow Studies, Speaking Valves, Voice Prosthesis, and FEES is advantageous.
