Job Description
Job Opportunity: Thoracic Surgeon

Our organization is on the lookout for a talented and personable full-time thoracic surgeon to join the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at a prominent medical facility in Erie, PA.

Position Overview

The Division of Thoracic and Foregut Surgery is eager to welcome an early to mid-career surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive and robotic thoracic surgery. This role is part of a well-established general thoracic practice at our facility. Ideal candidates would be recent graduates (within the last 1-2 years) from recognized general thoracic residency programs, particularly those with experience in pulmonary and foregut surgery. However, we are also open to considering graduates from non-tracked cardiothoracic programs who come with strong recommendations. Mid-career applicants should demonstrate proficiency in minimally invasive techniques, including robotics.

About the Facility

Our hospital, a 423-bed institution, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services. It serves as a regional referral center and is designated as a Level II Trauma Center. The thoracic oncology practice operates within the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, recognized as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. The successful candidate will join a thriving minimally invasive thoracic surgery team, equipped with advanced technologies such as the da Vinci Xi system and Monarch robotic bronchoscopy. The existing practice also handles a significant volume of minimally invasive benign esophageal surgeries.

Candidate Profile

The preferred candidate will be in the early to mid-stage of their career, possessing experience in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. We are also willing to consider new graduates with outstanding credentials and references. Responsibilities will encompass all facets of general thoracic surgery, with a particular focus on thoracic oncology.

Compensation

A competitive salary will be offered, aligned with MGMA standards.
