Our organization is on the lookout for a Rheumatologist to become a part of our Internal Medicine team.

We are looking for individuals committed to a career in academic medicine, with a passion for teaching and research. In addition to managing a busy consultation service at our medical center and outpatient clinics, we also provide both outpatient and inpatient care at the Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley. Successful candidates will be expected to deliver services at all locations. Currently, inpatient responsibilities are shared among all physicians, and we are expanding our division to lessen the on-call burden for each physician. Our team benefits from excellent support staff for prior authorization, scribes, and a collaborative approach with nurse practitioners.

The Rheumatology Division currently consists of 5.5 faculty members, with plans to expand to 9 full-time faculty. We offer extensive faculty development and wellness programs, including initiatives such as physician vitality, financial planning, wellness resources, feedback mechanisms, positive psychology, involvement in clinical trials, billing and coding education, and diversity, equity, and inclusion training. Activities range from an all-abilities ropes course to pottery and painting classes, local hikes, and yoga sessions. Additionally, our faculty have access to free CME courses related to education to support their advancement. Whether your interests lie in healthcare administration, clinical research, medical education, or patient care, we provide the resources necessary for your success.

Our two-year fellowship program currently accommodates three fellows annually, with faculty engaging with fellows, residents, and students on a weekly basis. We conduct clinical trials and participate in health services, medical education, and various research projects. The division hosts seven specialized centers: the Center for Arthritis, Lupus Center, Scleroderma Center, Myositis Center, Sjogren’s Syndrome Center, Vasculitis Center, and the Center for Bone Health and Osteoporosis, which offer a diverse patient pool for research and expertise development. We also manage the Fracture Liaison Service and infusion centers at our affiliated hospitals, with ultrasound machines available at all sites for musculoskeletal, vasculitis, parotid, and lung ultrasound procedures.

Faculty members in the Department of Medicine are encouraged to pursue academic interests through teaching and research while providing care to underserved populations via partnerships with local health systems. Our organization is affiliated with a prominent medical center and children's hospital, dedicated to delivering comprehensive care at a high standard of clinical excellence. The medical center serves as the primary tertiary referral source for Riverside and San Bernardino counties, catering to a population of nearly 4 million and is the only Level I Trauma Center in a four-county area, covering about 25% of the state. The medical center and children's hospital together have over 850 licensed beds.

Compensation & Benefits

The listed compensation range reflects the starting base salary and is adjusted based on experience and faculty rank: $300,000 - $330,000. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity incentives and is subject to departmental compensation plans. Further details regarding compensation will be discussed during the recruitment process.
