OverviewThe role involves assessing and providing care for patients requiring respiratory therapy. You will administer prescribed therapeutic services to enhance patient well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patients to determine the appropriate type and frequency of treatment, creating a tailored care plan based on their diagnosis.
- Deliver respiratory care services following specific physician orders, departmental policies, and established guidelines.
- Implement and oversee the patient care plan and associated equipment, while monitoring, documenting, and communicating the patient's condition.
- Perform advanced respiratory care techniques and assess the effectiveness of medication administration and treatments based on patient outcomes.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding health conditions and inform them about community support resources and programs.
- Assist in the care, calibration, and maintenance of all respiratory equipment, while helping to manage departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment.
- Ensure equipment is processed according to established cleaning and sterilization protocols.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and rapid response situations.
- Maintain a state of alertness and safety at all times.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Education: An Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience and education.
- Experience: No prior experience is necessary.
- Regularly communicate verbally to convey information.
- Frequent standing and walking are required.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
- Regular sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
- Frequent visual acuity for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, including color differentiation.
- Regularly use smell to identify odors and hearing to receive oral communication and detect alarms.
- Occasional lifting of objects weighing 25-50 lbs and moving patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and other physical movements.
- Rarely involves crawling or running.
Depending on the state of employment, the following certifications are required:
- Illinois: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care, Registered Respiratory Therapist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Missouri: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care, Respiratory Care Practitioner - Missouri Division of Professional Registration.
- Oklahoma: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care, and other state-specific requirements.
- Wisconsin: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care, Respiratory Care Practitioner - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
This position requires night shifts.
