Senior Accountant (Contract)
Location: Charlotte, NC (Southwest)
Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $40/hour - $47/hour
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join client's team on a contract basis. This role will play a critical part in supporting the month-end close process, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and support month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
· Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
· Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items timely.
· Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and other key financial accounts.
· Analyze financial results and investigate variances and discrepancies.
· Maintain supporting documentation and schedules for audit readiness.
· Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.
· Partner with accounting and operational teams to improve processes and efficiencies.
· Support external audits and provide requested documentation as needed.
· Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
· Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as assigned.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
· Strong experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
· Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
· Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
· Prior experience in a senior accountant or lead accountant capacity.
· Experience supporting audits and financial statement preparation.
· Track record of identifying process improvements and increasing efficiency within accounting operations.
