Job Description
An exciting full-time contract opportunity is available for a skilled General Education Teacher with expertise in middle school science. This role spans the 2026-2027 academic year, beginning August 24, 2026 and concluding June 10, 2027, and is based onsite, supporting a dynamic group of students.
Your primary responsibility will be teaching general education middle school science classes, with the potential to interact with students who receive special education services. All SPED students will have an assigned SPED teacher for additional support, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality science instruction and classroom management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (required for emergency teaching permit)
- Active Pennsylvania teaching certification/licensure for assigned caseload
- Demonstrated experience in a school setting
- Proven mastery of middle school science curricular content
- Strong instructional, classroom management, and behavioral management skills
- Familiarity with creating standards-based, differentiated lesson plans and using formative assessment
- Experience working in an urban school environment and comfort with diverse student populations
- Reliable transportation
- Availability to work onsite, Monday to Friday, 8:30AM–4:00PM (no schedule accommodations)
- Ability to complete all required Pennsylvania clearances
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, state-aligned science instruction to general education students
- Develop comprehensive, differentiated lesson plans and adjust based on ongoing assessments
- Foster an inclusive, well-managed classroom environment focused on academic and personal growth
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with colleagues
- Utilize behavior management strategies to ensure a positive learning atmosphere
