Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification (DC, Virginia, or Maryland)
  • If holding a valid Virginia or Maryland certification, eligibility to apply for DC reciprocity via the official DC credentials site
  • Experience teaching special education, preferably at the elementary level
  • Strong knowledge of 4th grade math curriculum and differentiated instructional strategies
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach with staff and families

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated math instruction to 4th grade students with special needs
  • Adapt lesson plans to meet a wide range of learning abilities and styles
  • Create, monitor, and evaluate IEPs, ensuring compliance and individual student success
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust approaches to maximize achievement
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to enhance student outcomes
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
