Job Description
Freightserve recruitment are looking for a Operations Shift Manager for a well-established Freight Company. The company is based in the East Midlands area.
\nJob description:-
\n- \n
- Liaise with other departments to solve problem shipments. \n
- Arrange collections and deliveries where required. \n
- Monitor warehouse Operations. \n
- Operating IT-systems - as required. \n
- Answering and returning customer emails and calls in a timely manner and to agreed standards. \n
- Be polite and always respond positively to customers/colleagues. \n
- Investigating missing, late, and damaged parcels with analysing CCTV footage. \n
- Entering data accurately and efficiently in a timely manner. \n
- Building cardboard containers and pallets, using shrink wrap. \n
- Using pallet trucks cages and transferring parcels and pallets between warehouses \n
- Creating container labels. \n
- Ensure correct scans are applied to both shipments and containers. \n
- Picking & Packing orders and processing through IT systems. \n
- Assisting with stock takes. \n
- Operating IT-systems. \n
- Producing accurate carrier labels for all shipments. \n
- Making sure that the correct shipping information is attached to all parcels. \n
- Work includes regular light, medium and occasional heavy manual lifting and handling. \n
Compliance:-
\n- \n
- Becoming the main point of contact for all compliance related matters such as Security, H&S, DG limited to what actually is processed in the MW \n
- Completing regular audits, reporting findings and follow up with solutions \n
- Supporting the administration of H&S and calibration checks (this is only for the Main Operations areas) \n
- Main point of contact for incident, accident, dangerous occurrence and fault reporting \n
- Mentoring Supervisors, Team Leaders on compliance matters \n
- Assisting in maintaining security of warehouse. \n
- Adhere to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment. \n
- Carry out Daily checks as instructed. \n
- Coordinate procedures with regards to security protocols. \n
- Enforce and monitor DG compliance, Health & Safety rules and regulations. \n
- Review reports on incidents and breaches, investigate and resolve issues. \n
- Understand, support and complete staff vetting procedure. \n
- Check shipping paperwork is correct before lodging. \n
- Enforce and monitor DFT rules and regulations. \n
Management:-
\n- \n
- Deputising for HUB manager \n
- Carry out inductions, training, and mentoring. \n
- When required being the main point of contact for liaising with external authorities such as police. \n
- Taking ownership of inductions and ongoing training \n
- Ensure team members receive the communication and instructions needed to act in accordance with policies and procedures. \n
- Check staff have adequate training to complete their tasks. \n
- Attend meetings with senior management to determine operational needs. \n
- Ensuring work areas and warehouse are kept clean, neat, and well-organised. \n
- Organise workload during the shift and report back to line management. \n
- Liaising with staffing agencies and managing cover. \n
- Completing attendance reports accurately and in timely manner. \n
- Completing staff interviews, return to works, investigating and disciplinaries. \n
Essential Skills:-
\n- \n
- Competent numerical and mathematical abilities. \n
- Previous experience in a similar role. \n
- Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. \n
- Knowledge of security, health & safety requirements of a warehouse operation. \n
- Capable of light, medium and occasional heavy manual work. \n
- Demonstrable working knowledge and experience of a similar position. \n
- Ability to multitask and adapt in line with business requirements. \n
- Excellent business communication skills both verbal and written. \n
- Polite and friendly manner. \n
- Empathetic towards others, both clients and colleagues. \n
- Ability to identify and assess customers’ needs to achieve satisfaction. \n

\nShift one 11:30 – 20:00
\nShift two 13:30 - 22:00
\nShift three 18:00 – 02::30
\nShift four 19:30 - 08:00
