Mechanical Heating EngineerRAF Lakenheath, Suffolk £42,000 - £44,000 + Company Van + Fuel Card Permanent | Full Time | 40 Hours per WeekAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Heating Engineer to join a large and established facilities' management team supporting a high-profile site in Suffolk.This is a varied role where you'll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of commercial heating systems across a large estate, ensuring critical assets remain safe, compliant and operating efficiently.The Role As a Mechanical Heating Engineer, you will undertake both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repair work on a range of commercial heating and mechanical systems across multiple locations.Key responsibilities include:Servicing, maintaining and repairing oil, LPG and gas-fired heating systemsDiagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairsEnsuring all plant and equipment operates safely and efficientlyCompleting planned maintenance tasks in line with service schedulesResponding to reactive breakdowns and emergency call-outsManaging work orders via a tablet-based system and scheduling your own workloadSupervising specialist contractors where requiredEnsuring compliance with all health and safety regulationsMaintaining accurate records and reports using digital systemsParticipating in an on-call rota (approximately 1 in 6/7 weeks)What You'll Need To be considered for this role, you will have:A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, ONC, HNC or equivalent)Proven experience working on commercial heating systemsCurrent Gas Safe registrationExperience with oil-fired boilers and associated plant equipmentStrong fault-finding and diagnostic skillsThe ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematicsExcellent communication and organisational skillsA full UK driving licenceDesirableLPG gas qualifications and experienceKnowledge of HVAC systemsExperience with Building Management Systems (BMS)Understanding of safe electrical isolation proceduresDue to the nature of the site, successful applicants must be able to obtain DBS and Security Clearance (SC).
