\nOur leading industry-based client are looking to appoint aBuyerto join their small procurement
\ndepartment, initially on a6 month temporary basis with a view to possibly going permanent.
\nSalary is competitive and working hours are 37.5 hours per week with an 8am or 8.30am start depending on preference. They offer early finishes on a Friday of 2pm.
\nThis is an on site based role and can be based at either their Rowlands Gill or Hexham site.
\nThe Role
\n- \n
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process from requisition through to purchase order placement and supplier delivery. \n
- Coordinate purchasing activities across multiple sites to ensure continuity of supply and optimal inventory levels. \n
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers to support quality, cost and service objectives. \n
- Obtain quotations, evaluate supplier proposals and make purchasing recommendations based on commercial and operational requirements. \n
- Monitor supplier performance, including delivery, quality and service metrics, and escalate issues where necessary. \n
- Support supplier negotiations relating to pricing, lead times, payment terms and service agreements. \n
- Identify and implement cost-saving and value-improvement opportunities across procurement categories. \n
- Analyse purchasing trends, supplier spend and procurement data to support business decision-making. \n
- Work closely with Operations, Finance, Sales and Warehouse teams to forecast demand and manage inventory requirements. \n
- Support the onboarding, approval and ongoing review of suppliers in line with company policies and procedures. \n
- Investigate and resolve supplier, delivery, invoice and stock-related issues in a timely manner. \n
- Ensure procurement records, contracts and supplier documentation are maintained accurately and compliantly. \n
- Assist with procurement projects, process improvements and system enhancements. \n
- Produce procurement reports, KPI data and management information as required. \n
- Support supply chain risk management activities and identify opportunities to improve supplier resilience. \n
- Provide support to the wider procurement and supply chain team as required. \n
The Person/Requirements
\n- \n
- Minimum 35 years' experience within a procurement, purchasing, buying or supply chain role. \n
- Experience of supplier relationship management and procurement coordination. \n
- Experience analysing purchasing data and producing procurement reports. \n
- Strong understanding of procurement processes and supply chain principles. \n
- Experience using ERP, MRP or procurement management systems. \n
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret data. \n
- Experience supporting supplier negotiations and cost-reduction initiatives is desirable. \n
- CIPS qualification or working towards CIPS would be advantageous. \n
