SEND Assistant Head

Location: SE5Salary: Leadership Scale L[XX-XX] (Dependent on Experience)Contract: Full TimE long term - Perm for right candidate Start Date: September 2026

As Assistant Headteacher, you will play a key role in supporting whole-school improvement, driving high-quality teaching and learning, and ensuring our pupils receive the exceptional education and care they deserve.

You will:

• Support the strategic leadership and development of the school.
\n
• Lead on key areas of school improvement and curriculum development.
\n
• Promote excellence in teaching, learning, behaviour and pupil progress.
\n
• Support and develop staff through coaching, mentoring and professional development.
\n
• Champion inclusive practice and ensure the highest standards of SEND provision.
\n
• Build strong partnerships with families, external agencies and professionals.
\n
• Contribute to safeguarding and the wellbeing of all pupils and staff.
\n

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undergo one)

Proven leadership experience within a SEND or specialist educational setting

Strong understanding of SEND legislation, EHCPs and inclusive educational practice

Experience supporting pupils with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication and learning difficulties

A track record of raising standards and improving outcomes for pupils

Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills

A commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion
