Product Development Engineer

- Annual Salary: £45k - £50k with up to £8k bonus \n

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Product Development Engineer to join our New Product Development department. This role is ideal for someone with a disciplined, structured approach to problem-solving and a positive, can-do attitude. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving the development of new products from concept through to volume production. The ideal candidate will have engineering qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
\nDay-to-day of the role:

- Support New Product Development (NPD) from early concept through to volume production. \n
- Experience in switch gears, sockets, manufacturing will be a strong bonus \n
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners to translate product requirements, user needs, and applicable standards into robust and manufacturable mechanical designs. \n
- Plan, coordinate, and support prototype builds and design iterations. \n
- Lead FMEA reviews with relevant operations teams and drive the implementation of resulting action plans. \n
- Work closely with Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, and Supply Chain teams. \n
- Conduct internal product testing and coordinate external testing activities for products in development, investigating and resolving any identified issues. \n
- Define and manage product and packaging labelling and marking requirements, including packaging labels, instruction leaflets, and data sheets. \n
- Collaborate with the Quality Team to investigate product issues, report findings, and manage product improvements with partner factories. \n
- Ensure products comply with relevant BS EN safety standards and directives, including EMC, REACH & RoHS. \n
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including product specifications, packaging specifications, instruction leaflets, and data sheets. \n
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical support records, including WEEE and packaging weight data. \n
Required Skills & Qualifications:
\n- \n
- Educated in an Engineering discipline with a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering bias. \n
- Ability to identify product features and benefits. \n
- An appreciation of manufacturing processes, product standards, and a quality approach to problem-solving. \n
- Knowledge of electrical product application and electrical installation, including work practices on building sites would be beneficial. \n
- Ideally, knowledge of British/European Standards and legislation that relates to products within the portfolio. \n
- Experience in collaborating with offshore factories remotely. \n
- Ideally, knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations. \n
- Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. \n
