Description
\nInterim Payroll (PART TIME)
\n\n- \n
- Provide operational oversight and support for the end-to-end payroll process across two payrolls, of approximately 300 employees. \n
- Review and document existing payroll processes, identifying risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for simplification. \n
- Reduce reliance on highly manual and spreadsheet-driven processes by introducing improved controls and documentation. \n
- Support the implementation and successful go-live for September 2026. \n
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and system implementation partners to ensure payroll readiness. \n
- Manage payroll activities in line with key monthly timelines, including:\n
- \n
- Payroll reporting cycle (typically 15th-16th of each month). \n
- Monthly pay runs and pay day deadlines (typically 22nd-23rd of each month) \n
\n - Support the transition from an in-house to outsourced payroll operating model, ensuring continuity of service and knowledge transfer. \n
- Review current arrangements for P11Ds and benefits administration, supporting the transition to payrolled benefits where appropriate. \n
- Oversee pension administration processes, including Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS) requirements. \n
- Liaise with external providers to ensure pension and payroll responsibilities are clearly defined and effectively managed. \n
- Identify compliance risks and ensure payroll processes align with HMRC and pension scheme requirements. \n
- Provide recommendations for longer-term payroll operating models and process improvements. \n
Profile
\nInterim Payroll (PART TIME)
\n\n- \n
- Extensive payroll management or senior payroll administration experience. \n
- Proven experience supporting payroll system implementations, migrations, or transformations. \n
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements. \n
- Experience managing payrolls within complex or public-sector related environments. \n
- \n
- Strong knowledge of pensions, ideally including:\n
- \n
- Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) \n
- Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS) \n
\n - Experience managing payroll through periods of organisational change. \n
- Advanced Excel and payroll process improvement skills. \n
- Ability to quickly assess and stabilise payroll operations with minimal supervision. \n

- ABLE TO ADHERE TO FLEX/PART TIME REQUIREMENTS (typically 2-3 days per week) \n
