Are you a proven technical sales professional with experience selling engineering steels or supplying the oil & gas sector? We're recruiting on behalf of a leading international manufacturer and supplier of high-performance engineering steels and special alloy products, looking to strengthen their UK Engineering Steels team. This is a highly technical and commercial role focused on growing market share across engineering steels. You'll act as the primary UK interface between customers and European production mills, driving growth through technical credibility, sector knowledge, and strong commercial acumen. The Role
\nWorking as part of the Engineering Steels division, you will:

- Develop and grow sales of engineering steel and specialist alloy products across the UK. \n
- Identify, target and win new business opportunities within engineering, oil & gas, energy and industrial markets. \n
- Manage and develop existing accounts, building long-term customer relationships. \n
- Conduct customer visits, technical discussions and commercial negotiations. \n
- Provide technical advice on steel grades, material specifications, mechanical properties and applications. \n
- Review mill test certificates and material documentation. \n
- Advise customers on heat treatment processes and their effect on performance and machinability. \n
- Support customers with technical queries, quality concerns and material selection. \n
- Prepare quotations, tenders and pricing proposals. \n
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities. \n
Essential:
\n- \n
- Proven technical sales experience within the engineering steels industry or oil & gas supply chain. \n
- Strong understanding of engineering steel products, material specifications and manufacturing processes. \n
- Knowledge of heat treatment, mechanical testing and non-destructive examination (NDE). \n
- Experience developing new business and managing customer relationships within technical markets. \n
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and communication skills. \n
- Ability to discuss technical requirements confidently with engineers, procurement teams and end users. \n
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK and occasionally Europe. \n
