Job Description

Reed Accountancy are exclusively working with a charity looking for a Senior Finance Assistant to start ASAP for a maternity leave role in Newbury.

\n

They require a regular onsite presence three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday). You will play a crucial role in supporting the finance team with a range of finance and governance tasks, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery of the charity’s objectives.

\n

The most crucial experience required for this role is using Microsoft Business Central or wider Dynamics 365 experience. If you do not have this systems experience you will not be considered for the role.

Key parts of the role:

    \n
  • Manage and reconcile office petty cash, fundraising float, and bank accounts.
  • \n
  • Handle purchase ledger activities including raising purchase orders, matching and coding invoices, reconciliation of statements, and managing payments.
  • \n
  • Oversee the sales ledger by raising invoices, logging receipts, and allocating to correct projects and analysis codes.
  • \n
  • Serve as the initial contact for financial enquiries both internally and externally.
  • \n
  • and record donation income via various channels.
  • \n
  • Resolve donor and fundraising team queries and handle fundraising event reconciliations.
  • \n
  • Record and process staff expense claims and gift aid claims.
  • \n
  • Undertake general finance administration and support higher level finance duties as required.
  • \n
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes and support the annual audit
  • \n
  • Participate in routine call handling as part of the wider office administrative team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

    \n
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Business Central and a strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping.
  • \n
  • Demonstrable experience with a computerised accounting system.
  • \n
  • Excel knowledge (VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables)
  • \n
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • \n
  • Logical problem-solving approach and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
