The Opportunity\nWe are recruiting an experienced Payroll & Pensions Advisor to join an established payroll function in Leicester on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong payroll knowledge who is comfortable dealing with more complex queries and providing guidance to colleagues across the payroll team.
\nThis is not a Payroll Coordinator position. The successful candidate will need the confidence and technical understanding to act as a senior point of support, helping colleagues resolve more complicated payroll and pensions matters.
The Role\nWorking within a collaborative payroll and pensions team, you will support the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services while providing knowledgeable advice to employees, managers and colleagues.
\nYour responsibilities will include:

Investigating and resolving complex payroll queries.
\n - \n
Providing technical payroll support and guidance to Payroll Coordinators.
\n - \n
Reviewing payroll information and identifying discrepancies.
\n - \n
Supporting payroll processing, checking and reconciliation activities.
\n - \n
Advising employees and managers on payroll-related matters.
\n - \n
Supporting pension administration and responding to pension queries.
\n - \n
Ensuring payroll and pension activities comply with relevant legislation, internal policies and deadlines.
\n - \n
Working closely with HR, Finance and other internal stakeholders.
\n - \n
Supporting year-end, month-end and other key payroll deadlines.
\n - \n
Contributing to process improvements across the payroll and pensions function.

The successful candidate will have:
\n- \n

Previous experience within a Payroll Advisor, Senior Payroll Officer or similar position.
\n - \n
Strong end-to-end payroll knowledge.
\n - \n
Experience handling complex payroll queries independently.
\n - \n
The confidence to support and advise less experienced payroll colleagues.
\n - \n
Some practical knowledge of workplace pensions.
\n - \n
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to strict deadlines.
\n - \n
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
\n
Experience using SAP would be advantageous, although candidates with experience using other payroll systems will also be considered.
\nKnowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) or Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) would also be beneficial but is not essential.
Working Pattern\nThe role offers a hybrid working arrangement:

The first two weeks will be worked full-time on site in Leicester to complete training and onboarding.
\n - \n
Following this, the standard on-site days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays.
\n - \n
Some flexibility will be required around key payroll deadlines, when three days on site may occasionally be necessary.

The remaining days can be worked from home.
\n
