Mechanical Fitters - Engineering - Croydon £30000 to £43000 plus bonus depending on experience

Hello Recruitment are recruiting Mechanical Fitters within the Croydon workshop of a large engineering business.

Core responsibilities

Read technical drawings and familiar with end floats, gear backlash etc

\n
• Disassembly, Cleaning, Inspection and Re-assembly of mechanical systems, particularly transmission systems, gearboxes and rotating equipment.
\n
• Use of precision measuring equipment to make decisions on passing/failing components
\n
• Use of overhead and Jib cranes to move heavy equipment safely
\n
• Use of basic workshop equipment such as air tools, abrasive wheels, hydraulic presses
\n
• Maintain good safety, quality and efficiency levels
\n
• Flexibility of skills to carry out testing, basic wiring and mechanical fitting
\n
• Maintain good housekeeping, awareness of and adherence to health and safety requirements
\n
• Involvement in improvement activities as required
\n
• Contribute to daily team stand up meetings
\n
• Ability to complete technical documentation as work progresses
\n
• To perform other duties as assigned from time to time
\n

Professional Experience & Education

\n
• Minimum four years mechanical fitting, preferably on transmission systems, gearboxes and rotating equipment
\n
• Preferably time-served apprentice trained or other relevant qualification
\n
• A good understanding of machining practices
\n
• Experience in safety critical environments such as Rail could be advantageous
\n
• A flexible approach to meet customer demands
\n
• Good manual dexterity to handle a number of mechanical fitting tasks
\n
• Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings
\n
• Good team player
\n
• Full understanding of English to work to detailed technical instructions and to be able to complete documentation accurately
\n

Package Details:-

\n
• 36.5 working week; 07:00 – 15:00 Mon – Thurs and Fri 07:00 13:30
\n
• £30000 – £43000 (dependant on experience)
\n
• 20 days holiday (pro rata)
