Accounts Senior

A partner-led accountancy firm in Stockport is expanding its accounts team to keep pace with a growing, varied client base, and is looking for someone who wants more than routine compliance work. You'll get direct exposure to partners, a broad portfolio spanning owner-managed businesses through to larger corporate clients, and a firm that's actively investing in the people who can grow with it.

• Someone who wants direct, regular access to partners rather than being several layers removed from client relationships.

• A general practice accountant who can pick up a live portfolio quickly, without needing extensive hand-holding or lengthy training.

This is a well-established North West firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, with a history spanning well over a century and a client base built on long-standing, partner-led relationships. The firm supports a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs and larger corporates across sectors including ecommerce, retail and professional services, and has continued to invest in modern cloud accounting systems across its offices.

The accounts team is growing. This is a dynamic, close-knit team (several partners have been promoted internally in recent years) that's described internally as a great environment to work in, with plenty of support from more senior colleagues day to day.

Portfolio Management

• Manage a varied portfolio of accounts clients
\n
• Prepare statutory and management accounts for owner-managed businesses, SMEs and larger corporate clients.

Client Advisory

\n
• Act as a day-to-day point of contact for a portfolio of clients, building genuine relationships rather than one-off compliance contact.
\n

Leadership & Team Development

\n
• Support and review the work of more junior team members as your portfolio and experience develop.
\n
• Work closely with partners on a day-to-day basis, with real visibility of how the practice is run.
\n

Business Development

\n
• Contribute to the firm's continued growth by identifying opportunities for additional services within your existing client portfolio.
\n
• Part-qualified (minimum) or qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
\n
• Solid general practice background, ideally from a similar-sized firm, with hands-on accounts preparation experience.
\n
• Comfortable managing a varied portfolio with minimal supervision once up to speed.
\n
• Strong UK accounting and tax knowledge, with the confidence to flag more complex tax matters appropriately.
\n

• Part-qualified (minimum) or qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
\n
• Solid general practice background, ideally from a similar-sized firm, with hands-on accounts preparation experience.
\n
• Comfortable managing a varied portfolio with minimal supervision once up to speed.
\n
• Strong UK accounting and tax knowledge, with the confidence to flag more complex tax matters appropriately.
\n

Salary: £28,000 – £45,000, dependent on experience and qualification level.
