Principal Control Systems EngineerSheffield - HybridFull-timeAre you ready to lead complex control systems projects from concept through to delivery?Do you enjoy combining technical leadership with client-facing responsibility?Could this be the step up where your engineering expertise shapes major projects in highly regulated environments?What's in it for you?Fantastic basic salary25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, plus buy/sell up to 5 days leave per yearHybrid working - 2 days from home per weekFlexible start and finish Times - Start between 7-10am and finish between 3-6pm, plus Flexi FridaysPension contributions are 4.5% employer, subject to a 5% contribution by the employeeEmployee Health Cash PlanLife assuranceWhat will you be doing?Leading the design, development and integration of advanced control systemsReviewing and approving system architectures, designs and technical specificationsTaking ownership of testing, validation and commissioning activitiesManaging technical delivery across projects, including quality, performance and complianceWorking closely with software, hardware, workshop and project teams to deliver successful outcomesLeading technical discussions with clients and project teams to resolve issuesSupporting bids and providing technical sign-off during the tendering processMentoring engineers, developing team capability and providing line management supportManaging project resources, budgets, reporting and close-out activitiesWhere you'll be doing it?You'll be joining a long-established engineering business with over 50 years of experience delivering digital transformation and system integration solutions across energy, nuclear and industrial manufacturing. The company works on complex, safety-critical projects and has a strong presence across the UK.What you'll need:At least 7 years' experience in systems engineering, hardware design or electrical designStrong knowledge of control systems and associated software and hardwareExperience with tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, SCADA packages, PLC packages and HMI packagesExperience applying systems engineering principles and system integration processesGood understanding of project management, including cost control and client managementBasic understanding of contractual and commercial requirementsExperience of software development and hardware integrationExperience working on client sitesStrong communication and presentation skillsAbility to provide technical input during bids, including estimating time and effortLeadership experience, with the ability to mentor, guide and support engineering teamsExperience in highly regulated industries would be usefulWe appreciate your CV may not be up to date.
