Job Description
Reed Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a leading engineering & manufacturing company.About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading heavy engineering manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving a wide range of electrical systems and production equipment, ensuring maximum plant availability, reliability, and safety within a heavy industrial environment.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on plant equipment.Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production machinery and ancillary equipment.Maintain motors, drives, inverters, PLCs, control panels, instrumentation, and process control systems.Perform fault finding on electrical, automation, and control systems.Support continuous improvement activities to enhance machinery performance and reduce downtime.Participate in breakdown investigations and root cause analysis.Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of plant equipment.Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with site health and safety procedures.Accurately complete maintenance records using the site's CMMS system.Support shutdowns, projects, and capital investment activities when required.Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to maximise operational efficiency.Essential RequirementsTime-served Electrical Engineering apprenticeship.NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.Previous electrical maintenance experience within a heavy manufacturing, process, or industrial environment.Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.Experience working with: Three-phase electrical systemsMotors and motor controlsVariable Speed Drives (VSDs)PLC-controlled machineryElectrical distribution systemsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.Knowledge of electrical health and safety regulations.Desirable RequirementsExperience within steel manufacturing, rolling mills, foundries, metals processing, or heavy industry.Siemens S7, Allen Bradley, or Mitsubishi PLC knowledge.18th Edition Wiring Regulations.High voltage (HV) switching experience.Experience with SCADA and automation systems.IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.Key SkillsElectrical fault findingPLC diagnosticsIndustrial automationPreventative maintenanceRoot cause analysisContinuous improvementProblem solvingCommunication and teamworkHealth & Safety complianceThe role also includes pension, competitive holidays, bonus etcTPBN1_UKTJ
