Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Appointed Person (AP) to take full ownership of planning and delivering safe, compliant lifting operations within a dynamic and fast-paced operational environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the planning and coordination of all lifting operations in line with LOLER 1998, BS 7121, and industry best practiceProduce and approve comprehensive lift plans, RAMS, and technical documentationSelect appropriate cranes, lifting equipment, and accessories for each operationDefine lifting methodologies, including crane positioning, load calculations, radii, and ground bearing pressuresConduct detailed site surveys, identifying hazards, constraints, and operational risksAct as the central point of contact for lifting operations, liaising with clients, principal contractors, and site teamsEnsure lifting activities are carried out under the supervision of competent personnelDeliver clear pre-lift briefings, ensuring all teams fully understand the lift planTake decisive action to stop operations where safety is compromisedEnsure all lifting equipment is fully compliant, certified, and within inspection requirementsVerify competence and certification of all personnel involved in lifting operationsMonitor external factors such as weather and environmental conditions that may impact safetyLead investigations into incidents and near misses, implementing robust corrective actionsAct as the Appointed Person and duty holder for contract lifting operationsEnsure clarity of responsibilities, scope, and risk under contract lift agreementsMaintain accurate records of lift plans, permits, and operational documentationBeneficial Skills / Qualifications:CPCS or NPORS Appointed Person qualification (or equivalent)Strong working knowledge of LOLER 1998 and BS 7121Proven experience planning and delivering complex and high-risk lifting operationsStrong background in sectors such as construction, infrastructure, utilities, or telecomsExperience working in environments with tight deadlines, operational pressures, and strict safety standardsTelecoms sector experience is highly desirable, given the nature and expectations of key projectsExcellent attention to detail with a safety-first mindsetStrong organisational and planning capabilityConfident decision-maker, able to act quickly in critical situationsEffective communicator, able to influence and coordinate multiple stakeholdersTechnically competent, with the ability to interpret drawings and calculate loads accuratelyTPBN1_UKTJ
