Job Description

A large public-service broadcaster is seeking a proactive and organised Broadcast Operations Assistant to support operations at their office in Manchester.

\n

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in media, broadcasting, events, technical operations, logistics or facilities support who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment. You'll play a key role in ensuring teams have the equipment, facilities and support they need to deliver world-class content.

\n

While you won't be expected to be an engineer, a basic understanding of the media or broadcast industry and an interest in technical equipment would be highly beneficial.

\n

This is an initial 3-month contract based onsite in Manchester with an hourly rate up to £29.80 per hour via an Umbrella company (PAYE payment method also available).

\n

The Role

\n

As a Base Operations Assistant, you will support the day-to-day running of the operational base, ensuring equipment and facilities are available, maintained and distributed efficiently.

\n

Key responsibilities include:

\n
    \n
  • Loading and unloading technical equipment and vehicles safely.
  • \n
  • Supporting the movement of equipment between locations and Outside Broadcast sites.
  • \n
  • Checking equipment in and out using internal systems.
  • \n
  • Maintaining stock levels and arranging replenishment of consumables.
  • \n
  • Assisting with studio and facility set-ups as required.
  • \n
  • Supporting operational teams, freelancers and visitors as a key point of contact.
  • \n
  • Ensuring equipment is issued safely and all relevant documentation is up to date.
  • \n
  • Using purchasing, allocation and stock control systems.
  • \n
  • Supporting operational projects as directed.
  • \n
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety across the site.
  • \n
  • Driving company or hire vehicles where required and authorised.
  • \n

Essential Skills & Experience

\n

  • Experience working in a fast-paced operational, logistics, facilities, media or technical support environment.
  • \n
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage changing priorities.
  • \n
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • \n
  • Understanding of stock control, equipment allocation or asset management processes.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative when required.
  • \n

Desirable

\n
    \n
  • Exposure to the media, broadcast, television, radio, events or production industries.
  • \n
  • Understanding of broadcast or audio-visual equipment and how it is used operationally.
  • \n
  • Experience supporting technical teams, engineers or production environments.
  • \n
  • Experience with equipment booking, inventory or resource management systems.
  • \n

Working Environment

This is a hands-on role and will involve:

  • Manual handling activities.
  • \n
  • Working around operational vehicles.
  • \n
  • Loading and unloading goods vehicles.
  • \n
  • Use of tail lifts.
  • \n
  • Working closely with broadcast and engineering teams.
