Mechanical EstimatorCambridge (with the option to work from the Colchester office)£50,000-£60,000 + Car Allowance + BenefitsA highly respected M&E contractor is looking to recruit a Mechanical Estimator to join its growing pre-construction team.With a turnover of approximately £55m and an exceptionally strong financial position, the business has built a reputation for delivering high-quality Mechanical & Electrical projects across the education, healthcare, life sciences, leisure, and student accommodation sectors.Projects typically range up to £12.5m, with a sweet spot between £5m-£6m, offering exposure to technically challenging and rewarding schemes.The RoleWorking as part of an established pre-construction team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate mechanical tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.You will work closely with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal delivery teams to develop competitive and commercially sound tenders while supporting the continued growth of the business.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed mechanical tenders and cost plansReview drawings, specifications, and tender documentationObtain and analyze quotations from suppliers and subcontractorsProduce accurate take-offs and pricing schedulesProvide technical and commercial input throughout the pre-construction processLiaise with clients, consultants, and internal project teamsSupport value engineering exercises where appropriateAttend tender review meetings and client interviews when requiredAssist with handovers to the delivery team following successful bidsExperience & RequirementsPrevious experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the building services industryStrong understanding of mechanical building services systemsExperience pricing commercial building services projectsSector experience within education, healthcare, life sciences, or similar environments would be advantageousGood commercial awareness and attention to detailAbility to work from the Cambridge office, with flexibility to work from the Colchester office when requiredSkillsStrong analytical and numerical abilityExcellent communication and negotiation skillsOrganized with a high level of attention to detailProficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating softwareAbility to work both independently and as part of a collaborative teamThe OpportunityThis is an excellent opportunity to join one of the region's most financially secure and well-established M&E contractors.With a strong pipeline of repeat business, a collaborative working environment, and genuine opportunities for career development, the company offers long-term stability and the chance to work on a wide variety of technically interesting projects.Package£50,000-£60,000 salary depending on experienceCompany car or car allowance6% pension contributionDeath in service cover25 days annual leave, increasing with serviceChristmas Eve as an additional day's holidayModern office facilities in Cambridge and ColchesterOngoing training and long-term career progression within a growing businessTPBN1_UKTJ
