As we continue to expand, we are now looking to appoint a driven and hands-on Branch Manager to lead our Hackney operation.The RoleThis is a hands-on leadership role where you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the branch, overseeing sales, operations, transport, and yard functions.This position would suit either an experienced Branch Manager or a strong Supervisor/Assistant Manager ready to step up, with a well-rounded background across sales and operations, and a preference for a hands-on environment rather than a purely corporate structure.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and lead the branch team including trade counter staff, drivers, and yard operativesDrive sales performance, profitability, and customer retentionBuild and maintain strong relationships with key trade customersOversee order management, scheduling, and delivery coordinationMonitor stock levels, purchasing, and supplier relationshipsWork closely with credit control to manage customer accounts and minimise riskEnsure full compliance with health & safety and operational standardsManage staff performance, recruitment, training, and developmentAnalyse branch performance and report to senior managementIdentify opportunities to expand the customer base and grow the branchRequirementsExperience within a Builders Merchants environment is essentialPrevious supervisory or management experience (Trade Counter Supervisor / Assistant Manager level considered)Strong knowledge of building materials and the construction supply chainExperience managing teams across sales, yard, and transport functionsCommercially minded with the ability to drive sales and marginExperience using merchant ERP systems (Bistrack/Kerridge preferred)Knowledge of purchasing from first- and second-tier suppliersStrong organisational and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and leadership abilitiesHigh integrity and a hands-on approach to managementWhat We Offer£40,000 salary with performance-based bonus linked to branch performancePension schemeStaff discount on building materialsGenuine opportunity to step up into a Branch Manager role within a growing independent businessSupportive and collaborative working environment where you will be valued as part of a team and able to see your efforts directly contribute to the success of the businessTPBN1_UKTJ
