Maintenance Team LeaderUp to £51,373 DOEPlus, on call allowanceMonday to Friday 08am to 4pmWhitby, North YorkshireThe CompanyA leading FMCG and packaging manufacturer supplying innovative resealable solutions across major retail, consumer goods and industrial markets. The environment is fast paced, quality driven and focused on delivering reliable performance for customers.The RoleYou will lead the engineering and maintenance team to ensure maximum equipment uptime, strong preventative maintenance performance and fast response to breakdowns. The role requires an experienced electro mechanical leader with proven capability managing complex machinery in an FMCG or packaging environment. Extrusion experience is highly desirable due to the nature of the site's production processes.You will coordinate maintenance activities, manage priorities, support production requirements and ensure all engineering work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. The maintenance team consists of four electro mechanical engineers working a two-shift pattern covering 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm Monday to Friday.Key responsibilities include:Leading the engineering and maintenance team to deliver strong performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost and moraleManaging daily engineering priorities including breakdown response, planned maintenance and project workEnsuring all extrusion, converting and ancillary equipment is electrically and mechanically maintained to required standardsMaintaining and repairing site support equipment including chillers, compressors and sprinklersEnsuring planned preventative maintenance is scheduled correctly and completed on timeMaintaining and enforcing use of the ILAC preventative maintenance systemCarrying out electrical installation, inspection and testing in line with 17th edition regulationsEnsuring the engineering workshop remains clean, organised and audit readyImplementing and maintaining 5S systems and shadow boards across the departmentEnsuring work raised through EWR and ILAC is completed promptly to minimise downtimeManaging engineering spares and consumables to ensure adequate stock levelsLiaising with suppliers and managing supplier performance to meet departmental needsRaising purchase orders within budget and maintaining cost controlDriving a strong safety culture and ensuring all safe working practices are followedReporting hazards and working with QHSE to maintain COSHH complianceCalibrating equipment including temperature controllers, width detectors and tension towersPlanning holidays, call out cover and resource to ensure full site coverageLeading training, development and cross skilling across the engineering teamHolding regular team meetings and one to ones to improve communication and performanceSupporting continuous improvement and contributing to problem resolution meetingsWorking closely with Production and Operations to optimise machinery and process efficiencyParticipating in electrical, mechanical and site projects and leading maintenance activitiesEnsuring the team maintains high housekeeping standards and safe working conditionsAttending company training to maintain regulatory complianceCompleting any reasonable request from Group Leaders or ManagersThe Person:Experienced engineering leader with an electro mechanical backgroundExtrusion experience strongly preferredFMCG, packaging or plastics manufacturing experience highly advantageousStrong electrical and mechanical maintenance capabilityExperience leading or supervising engineering teamsKnowledge of preventative maintenance systems and engineering planningAbility to manage priorities and respond quickly to breakdownsStrong communication skills with confidence coaching and mentoring teamsExperience working with suppliers and managing engineering budgetsUnderstanding of safety systems including COSHH and safe working practicesStrong problem solving skills with a continuous improvement mindsetAbility to work collaboratively with Production, Operations and QHSEComputer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word17th edition qualification desirableExperience with calibration processes desirableBenefits and Package:Salaried role up to £51,373 per annumOn call allowance of £100 per weekend, approximately 10 weekends per yearMinimum three hours at time and half for any call outCompany pension scheme with employer contributions up to 11 percentDeath in service life assurance at six times salary for pension scheme membersTwenty days holiday plus eight public holidays in year oneTwenty-five days holiday plus eight public holidays from year twoAdditional benefits available through Westfield HealthKeywordsMaintenance Team Leader, Engineering Leadership, Electro Mechanical, Extrusion, Packaging, FMCG, Converting, Preventative Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, ILAC, 5S, Continuous Improvement, Engineering Management, Production Support, Factory Maintenance, Leadership, Operational PerformanceWinsearch acts as an employment agency for permanent staff.
