School Counselor in Leavenworth, KS

Embark on a rewarding contract assignment supporting students’ academic and personal growth from August 12, 2026 through May 20, 2027. This full-time role totals 37.5 hours per week, providing essential counseling services in both an elementary and intermediate building, working directly with students in grades K–5.

In this position, you will collaborate with faculty and participate in school-wide initiatives, ensuring that each student receives valuable guidance and mental health support throughout the academic year. You will have the opportunity to create a direct impact in the educational community, offering individualized attention as well as engaging group sessions.

What We’re Looking For:

• Current Kansas school counselor license (K–12)
• Experience providing counseling in elementary or intermediate school settings preferred
• Knowledge of developmental, behavioral, and academic needs of students in grades K–5
• Proficiency in delivering individual and group counseling, and classroom lessons
• Strong skills in crisis intervention and participation in IEP meetings
• Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational abilities
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Split time between elementary and intermediate school buildings
• Provide individual and small group counseling to address student needs
• Lead classroom guidance lessons on academic, social, and emotional topics
• Participate in crisis intervention and response as needed
• Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff to facilitate student growth
