Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field
- Valid teaching certificate with a Visually Impaired endorsement
- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet unique student needs
- Passion for fostering student growth and achievement
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are blind or visually impaired in individual and group settings
- Assess students’ abilities, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and monitor progress
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning experiences
- Adapt curriculum using braille, large print, audio materials, and assistive technology
- Consult with staff on best practices for accommodating and including visually impaired students
- Advocate for accessibility and foster engagement in all school activities
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP and team meetings
