Job Description
Empower students to reach their full potential as a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a rewarding contract opportunity for the full school year. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact by providing specialized instruction and support to a caseload of approximately 20 students, while balancing a flexible schedule of 15 hours per week.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments, preferably within a K-12 educational setting
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive teaching strategies
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Collaborative team player with excellent communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across a variety of grade levels
- Assess student abilities and adapt curriculum materials utilizing Braille, large print, tactile graphics, and technology as appropriate
- Work closely with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to support inclusive student learning
- Provide guidance to educators and staff about best practices for accommodating students with visual impairments
- Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings as required
