This part-time, contract opportunity is perfect for an experienced professional passionate about making a difference from Elementary through Middle School grade levels. As an itinerant resource, you'll collaborate closely with school staff to provide specialized instruction and consultation—ensuring students have what they need to thrive across educational environments.

Qualifications and Required Experience:

  • Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement
  • Previous experience providing instructional support and adapting curriculum for students with visual impairments
  • Strong communication skills for working with students, teachers, and families
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to multiple school sites as needed
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive, accessible classrooms

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative services for students with visual impairments, spanning Elementary to Middle School
  • Develop, adapt, and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to support each student’s unique needs
  • Collaborate with general education teams and related service providers to ensure accessibility and inclusion
  • Provide guidance on the use of assistive technology and materials in braille or enlarged print
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to evaluations
  • Offer resources, training, and support for faculty and families to maximize student success
