Job Description
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students as an itinerant educator supporting multiple schools in the Naperville area. In this full-time, onsite contract position, you’ll work directly with an engaging caseload split between one middle school and two elementary schools, fostering communication and academic growth for students with hearing challenges.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois PEL (Professional Educator License) with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
- Experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in educational settings preferred
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies designed for DHH populations
- Flexibility to travel between different school sites as needed
- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Effective communication and organizational skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, adjusting teaching strategies to meet individual needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to ensure inclusion and academic success
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Facilitate the use of assistive listening devices and other technology as appropriate
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Serve as a resource to school staff and families, offering guidance in best practices for supporting DHH students
