Job Highlights- Department: Cardiac Electrophysiology
- Schedule: Flexible hours with start times ranging from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM | 8-hour shifts
- On-call Requirement: One day per week and a weekend rotation approximately every fifth weekend
- Preferred Experience: Critical care and sedation experience
The role involves planning, coordinating, and delivering care to adult patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab. You will ensure that high-quality care is provided efficiently and safely, adhering to the unit's care standards while demonstrating the necessary competencies for the clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a circulator, scrub, or monitor within the Cath Lab procedure team.
- Prepare patients appropriately for procedures, ensuring timely access to necessary information such as history and physical (H&P).
- Utilize critical judgment to assess patients and administer medications, especially for critically ill individuals, while promptly reporting any abnormalities to the physician.
- Safely perform hemostasis with or without vascular devices.
- Regularly enter patient orders and charges, verifying their accuracy.
- Provide care for critically ill patients, demonstrating the ability to work independently in high-pressure situations.
- Educate patients and their families based on assessed needs, documenting the education provided and keeping them informed about tests and treatments.
- Assist families in navigating to the cardiology or Cath lab areas as needed.
- May conduct point-of-care testing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety while performing duties.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
- Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.
- Experience: No prior experience is required.
- Frequent oral communication and standing/walking.
- Regular lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry.
- Regular visual acuity for near and far distances, as well as color differentiation.
- Frequent use of smell and hearing for communication and safety alerts.
- Occasional lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs and moving patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and other physical movements.
- Rarely requires crawling or running.
Applicants must hold the following certifications based on their state of work location:
- Illinois: Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association, Registered Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Missouri: BLS HCP, RN - Missouri Division of Professional Registration or Compact State, ALS or PALS.
- Oklahoma: BLS HCP, RN - Compact State or Oklahoma Board of Nursing, ALS or PALS.
- Wisconsin: BLS HCP, RN - Compact State or Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, ALS or PALS.
