Pharmacist - Butler, Pennsylvania
Job Description
Provide expert pharmaceutical care in a part-time long-term care setting with a contract opportunity offering 24 hours per week. This role involves ensuring the accuracy and safety of medication orders within skilled nursing facilities, personal care facilities, and hospice environments.
Location: Butler, PA
Schedule: 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 8 am – 6 pm
Assignment: 1-month initial commitment with opportunity for extension
Operating Systems: QS1, Docutrack, and PCC
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify medication orders entered by data entry technicians for multiple care settings, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Inspect both blister-packed and sterile/non-sterile medications to maintain quality control.
- Respond to phone inquiries from nursing facilities, hospice nurses, and physicians, providing clinical guidance as needed.
- Manage controlled substances by counting inventory and maintaining perpetual records.
- Monitor and check emergency medication boxes to guarantee readiness.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy.
- Licensed pharmacist registered in good standing with the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.
- Minimum of 1 year of pharmacist experience; long-term care experience preferred.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, and perform fine motor tasks; visual acuity is required. Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
