Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A pharmacy professional is needed to provide expert medication dispensing and patient care services at a primary retail location with occasional coverage at a secondary site. This contract assignment offers a structured Monday through Friday schedule, with weekends off at the main site and some weekend work possible at the secondary location.

Schedule

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Closed on weekends and six major holidays at primary location
  • Occasional weekend shifts at secondary retail site

Required Qualifications

  • Active New Mexico pharmacist license in good standing, or willingness to obtain prior to start
  • Disclosure and verification of all active and inactive licenses
  • Minimum one year of experience as a registered pharmacist preferred
  • APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Availability to cover shifts at secondary retail location, including occasional weekends

Ideal Experience

  • Retail pharmacy background, particularly in community grocery store settings
  • Strong patient counseling and medication dispensing capabilities
  • Leadership skills to supervise pharmacy technician staff effectively
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across multiple retail locations
  • Rapid licensure acquisition if not currently licensed in New Mexico
  • Willingness to obtain immunization certification promptly
  • Open to travel with contract length of 13 weeks or longer; shorter durations also considered

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medication orders following all protocols
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date patient medication profiles
  • Supervise, direct, and verify daily activities of pharmacy technicians
  • Participate in pharmacy team responses to medical emergencies
  • Inspect medication storage areas and identify expired products
  • Train and orient new pharmacy team members
  • Ensure adherence to infection control procedures throughout pharmacy operations
