A rewarding opportunity is available for a dedicated educator skilled in serving students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This contract position involves providing specialized instructional support in a school setting near Wilkesboro, NC. Candidates will collaborate closely with staff and families to ensure students receive comprehensive educational support tailored to their needs. The role covers 16 hours per week across two days, running from August 17, 2026, through June 4, 2027.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Current North Carolina Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) license
  • Expertise in educational strategies and accommodations for students with hearing loss
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Passion for fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction, interventions, and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Consult with teachers, parents, and related service providers regarding accommodations and modifications
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals specific to hearing-impaired students
  • Assess student progress and adapt strategies as needed
  • Maintain thorough documentation and participate in IEP meetings
  • Serve as a resource to school staff regarding assistive technology and inclusion best practices
