Teacher of the Deaf in North Wilkesboro, NC

Make a meaningful difference supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting just outside North Wilkesboro, NC. This contract role offers the opportunity to work directly with students, educators, and families to help every learner reach their fullest potential.

In this position, you’ll contribute your expertise 2 days per week, for a total of 16 hours. You’ll play a vital role as an advocate and educator, delivering specialized instruction and collaborating with school staff to create an inclusive learning environment. The assignment is set to start on August 17th, 2026, and run through June 4th, 2027.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Current North Carolina DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) license required
• Previous experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing preferred
• Strong skills in supporting diverse learning needs and modifying curriculum
• Excellent communication skills to interact with students, staff, and families
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and educational support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and track student progress
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to implement accommodations
• Consult with families and educators on best practices for supporting DHH students
• Advocate for student needs within the school community
