Job Description
Make a positive impact as an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher, working with students to support their development in specialized physical education programs. This contract opportunity is located in the vibrant New Orleans, LA area, with services needed across 2-3 school locations. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through May 22, 2026, with the flexibility to accommodate full-time (35 hours/week) or part-time schedules (three 7-hour days per week).
What you’ll bring:
- Adaptive Physical Education certification (preferred) or, at minimum, Physical Education teacher certification
- Experience with or interest in serving diverse student populations
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Capacity to support multiple sites and manage a dynamic, itinerant role
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between school locations during work hours
- Flexibility to meet changing needs and schedules
- Commitment to district credentialing processes, including required drug screening and fingerprinting
What you’ll do:
- Design and deliver specialized physical education instruction tailored to students’ unique needs
- Develop individualized goals in collaboration with IEP teams and other educators
- Provide adaptive strategies and modifications for inclusive participation
- Track and report student progress, maintaining accurate records
- Consult with teachers, staff, and families to promote best practices
- Manage and adapt programming across multiple school sites during the assignment
- Maintain a professional, student-centered approach in all settings
