Job Description
This opportunity seeks a dedicated Pharmacist for a 3 to 6-month contract in Philadelphia, PA, supporting a major academic medical center known for its Level 1 trauma care, research, and teaching excellence. The role demands commitment to the full contract duration and requires an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, urban hospital environment that serves a diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify medication orders from physicians and physician extenders, ensuring appropriateness of drug, dose, frequency, and route.
- Assess patient allergies, medical history, drug interactions, and lab results to detect clinical conflicts.
- Oversee medication preparation by pharmacy students and technicians, maintaining accuracy and safety.
- Maintain inventory control and provide drug information support to healthcare team members.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team on care planning and discharge processes.
- Follow strict medication safety protocols, including error and high-dose response procedures.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Pennsylvania Pharmacist license in good standing is required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy required; PharmD preferred.
- At least 1 year hospital experience or an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) in clinical settings preferred.
- Experience with EPIC Dispense Prep and EPIC Camera Verification System highly desirable.
- Proficiency in sterile compounding and intravenous (IV) room procedures mandatory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage thoughtfully with Temple University Hospital’s mission and patient community.
Schedule:
- 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each (07:00 AM – 3:30 PM).
