Job Description
A reputable academic medical center is seeking a licensed Pharmacist for a contract position lasting 3 to 6 months. This role is based in Norristown, PA, and requires full commitment to the contract duration. Candidates must be prepared to engage in a fast-paced, high acuity environment serving an underserved urban community.
Location: Norristown, PA
Schedule:
- AM Shift (07:00 - 15:30)
- 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (40 hours total)
Responsibilities:
- Review medication orders from physicians and extenders, ensuring correct drug, dose, route, and frequency
- Screen for potential clinical conflicts including allergies, interactions, and lab results before dispensing
- Provide drug information to healthcare team members
- Supervise pharmacy students and technicians to ensure accuracy and safety in medication preparation
- Participate in patient continuum of care and discharge planning
- Maintain inventory control in the pharmacy
- Follow medication safety and quality assurance protocols, especially in error and high dose situations
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Active and good standing PA Pharmacist license mandatory
- Bachelor’s degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy required; PharmD preferred
- Minimum 1 year hospital experience or clinical APPE preferred
- Experience with EPIC Dispense Prep system required; familiarity with EPIC Camera Verification strongly preferred
- Sterile compounding and IV room experience required
- Basic Life Support certification preferred
