Step into a rewarding role supporting elementary and middle school students as a Registered Nurse in a dynamic school environment near Newark, NJ. This full-time contract opportunity runs from September 4th to June 25th, offering a consistent weekday schedule from 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM, totaling 35 hours each week. You’ll be essential in promoting student health, safety, and well-being throughout the academic year.
What we’re looking for:
- Current New Jersey Registered Nurse license with a valid School Nursing certification
- Extensive school-based nursing experience
- Confidence managing caseloads across elementary and middle school settings
- Strong leadership skills to oversee health services in entire school buildings
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within district guidelines
- Must be comfortable in varied school environments and able to adapt to evolving needs
- Reliable transportation and proximity to commute
- Willingness and ability to complete all required onboarding (TB test, physical, agency and district fingerprinting)
- LPNs will not be considered for this role
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver daily healthcare support and triage for students and staff
- Document and manage individual student health plans
- Respond to urgent medical needs and emergencies as they arise
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and administration to create safe learning environments
- Educate students and staff on health topics and preventive care
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with all regulations
